Pediatric Orthotic Specialists strives to work within the medical community in a team approach. The various orthotic designs that we provide are intended to treat a variety of specific conditions and symptoms.
All patients requiring orthotic treatment should be evaluated by a physician who is trained in determining appropriate orthotic design.
In general, our goals are to:
1. Prevent Deformity- This is done by maintaining ROM(Range Of Motion), maintaining correct alignment, and limiting potentially damaging motions.
2. Improve function- This is done by preventing deformity, providing stability, and applying the "best" design for the patient.
3. Facilitate Development- This is done through an ongoing process of evaluation and working with Physicians, Therapists, and family to provide the best design for achieving rehab and developmental goals.

UCBL
-
Custom made insert for controlling a hyper-mobile pes-planus or cavus. It supports the arches of the foot and maintains the relative position of the hindfoot, midfoot, and forefoot.

D-DAFO
-
The D-DAFO is a dynamic, total contact orthosis which works exceptionally well for children with spasticity. This design maintains the correct alignment of the bones in the foot and ankle. Shown here are a full length D-DAFO(blocks plantar flexion and allows dorsi-flexion. The low profile D-DAFO allows plantar flexion and dorsiflexion.

-
Articulating AFO
-
Articulating AFO's allow for flexion at the ankle and have an adjustable/removable plantar flexion stop. We also have the ability to add dorsiflexion assist or check straps.

Reciprocating Gait Orthoses
-
This orthosis provides parlalitic patients with the support and ability to stand and take steps with assistance. The entire system can wiegh as little as 3.5 lbs. for smaller patients.

Solid Ankle AFO w/ pre-tibial shell (anti-crouch)
-
This Solid Ankle AFO with anterior panel is designed to prevent dorsiflexion and plantar flexion. The 'ground reaction' will also help to push the knee into extension during weight bearing.

Solid Ankle AFO

Solid ankle AFO's block plantar flexion and dorsiflexion.

-
Low Profile D-DAFO
-
This 'low profile' D-DAFO provides dynamic alignment and support for the foot and ankle while allowing plantar flexion and dorsiflexion.
-
-
Full Length D-DAFO
-
The dynamic design and material work on volume and will remain very comfortable even as children begin to outgrow them. This feature allows more time in the orthoses and a decrease in the likelihood that the patient will be unable to wear them before we can complete fabrication of a new, larger D-DAFO.

Low Profile D-DAFO with Articulating shell
-
This orthosis offers the support and total contact of a Low Profile D-DAFO with increased guidance and control of the knee

Low Profile D-DAFO with Articulating Shell
-
This picture shows two main components. Some patients can use the Low Profile D-DAFO without the articulating shell for therapy purposes.
-
-
Low Profile D-DAFO with Solid Ankle Shell
-
The Low Profile D-DAFO provides a total contact, dynamic hold on the foot and ankle for correction and comfort. The rigid, solid ankle shell maintains 90 degrees at the ankle and aids in knee extension during stance.

Low Profile D-DAFO with Solid Ankle shell
-
For some patients, the Low Profile D-DAFO can be used with out the solid ankle shell for therapy purposes.

HKAFO
-
The HKAFO provides support and alignment for the hips, knees, ankles and feet. Movements can be guided or blocked at each joint depending on the needs of the child.
